Servant learder

Here is a thoughtful little thing about The Paradoxes of Being a Servant Leader:

Strong enough to be weak
Successful enough to fail
Busy enough to make time
Wise enough to say "I don't know"
Serious enough to laugh
Rich enough to be poor
Right enough to say "I'm wrong"
Compassionate enough to discipline
Mature enough to be childlike
Important enough to be last
Planned enough to be spontaneous
Controlled enough to be flexible
Free enough to endure captivity
Knowledgeable enough to ask questions
Loving enough to be angry
Great enough to be anonymous
Responsible enough to play
Assured enough to be rejected
Victorious enough to lose
Industrious enough to relax
Leading enough to serve

It's perhaps a little cheesy - but also really true!

Impressions from 2-4th week in Bogotá

So here are some pictures from 2-4th week. Most resent first - oldest last.

This picture is from our teamroom in Homebase.

Some incredible streetart that I will use as inspiration in a workshop I'm teaching about graphical recording.

There is so much incredible beautiful streetart down here. This is not the most impressive I've seen, but this one was at a place where I felt it would be okay to act a little touristy ;-)

The palm is just very pritty and typical in the sense that there is a lot of green plants here :-)

This picture is a bit odd.. But is shows the difference in the buildings that this city has. By the way, some of the Kaospilots live in the building to the left.

This is from the first sunday we were here. We all went on a bike ride around the old center of Bogota. Every sunday they close some of the big streets, so that people can bike in them instead of drive in them. The big building in the back is the Presidents building. It was a very rainy day - which is not that uncommon here.

This is Naira - Our teamleaders, Rowan and Zulma's, daughter.

This picture is from La Candelaria. The part of the city where I live. As you can see it's pritty hilly.

Maja (from my learning group) and some "streetart-girls"

This picture is taken from the window of our Homebase. What you can see are a lot of taxi drivers having a break. They have put a wooden thing on top of a trashcan and are playing cards (poker?).

This is from the staircase in our Homebase. When we came out of the airport we were greetet by Troels, Rowan, a mariachi band and this sign.

This is Siri painting the Colombian flag as a frame for our 'wall of fame' in the Homebase.

This is one of the group rooms, or offices. I am the one that did the decorations for this room :-)

The same room from another angle, with Signe in it.

This is from Luca's birthday. He is dancing with Tara (his girlfriend). The Mariachi band in the background was a present from her and Max. They played at the restaurant where we ate his birthday dinner.

The first inspirational lecture we had down here was with two indiginist people. They spoke a lot about how we are a part of the earth and how we can live in harmony with it.

This is form Luca's birthday in the morning. At this time we were still living in the hotel, so we surprised him in the morning with cake and birthdaysongs - just as it is tradition in KP.

So... this was a few glimpses of what life is like here. I hope it brings joy for you to see :-)
Hugs and peace from God - the maker of the earth and my dad.

The colorful bags is a welcoming present for each of us with sim card, transmilennio card, fruit, Banana chips, Info card ect.

This is the view from our teamroom window. A really nice Catholic church in the middle of a 6 way road section.

1. movie from Bogota

So this place is right next to our hotel for the first week.

Restaurant 1. evening

So, the first night Troels had arranged for all of us to go to a restaurant together.

It' was a extremely fantastic place - where both the food and the decorations was amazing.

I'll let some pictures of the decorations and the people be a testimony of the good taste!

The only negative thing was that when we should pay it took forever ;-)

Theme song!

So we made this Team music track for our outpost where everyone choose one song.
I choose this one ;-)

A whole new world! And it's SO beautiful here!

Miami

Hi guys!

This is a few pictures from the hotel we stayed at in Miami during our layover.

As you can se they have a nice pool that a lot of us enjoyed.

More pictures from Our first day in Bogota coming up soon! :-)
